Communication, Energy & Paperworkers Union of Canada

CEP is one of Canada's largest unions, representing just about every type of worker, from coast to coast to coast. The CEP was formed in 1992 through a merger of three smaller unions, and it has been growing steadily ever since. Today, CEP is 150,000 strong. CEP represents seven different school support staff locals in Alberta.

CEP provides many services to its members such as:

  • Providing a representative to assist with negotiations, grievances and arbitration requests by each Local
  • Access to many labour resources
  • A comprehensive, national union education program for Local officers
  • A strike fund
  • Conferences, conventions and seminars for union representatives from across Canada to get together to share ideas and information to better represent their membership
  • Political lobbying for legislation safeguarding and promoting economic security and social welfare for all workers
  • Support for charities
  • A National Literacy program for members
